6 Steps To Get Rid Of Back Acne

By Angela Neo

Bacne is a term coined for back acne. Like other forms of acne, back acne can be pimples, cysts or blackheads. It can affect anyone of any age and gender. There are several ways to treat back acne as well as prevent it from appearing.

1 - Use anti bacterial body wash that are specially for body acne. As the skin thickness and texture is different from our face, you need a body wash that is a little stronger than your acne facial wash. Also, do not use regular soap.

2 - After taking a shower, use the towel to pat your back dry. Do not rub vigorously on the back where the acne is.

3 - Wear cotton clothes where possible. You can try putting some powder on your back to prevent perspiration and stickiness.

4 - Do not let perspiration stay on your body. This is so especially after exercise. Instead, wipe off the perspiration and change your clothes.

5 - Use Benzoyl Peroxide or AHA on your back. You will achieve faster results if you use both together. You can check out body wash that is specially made for body acne.

6 - Exfoliate your back a few times a week. You can use sea salts to scrub your back to get rid of dead skin cells.

There are also treatments that can be done by a dermatologist if you have very severe back acne. However, before you go with the hi tech machine treatment, you can first try some home remedies and simple treatments mentioned above. Remember prevention is just as important as treating existing acne.

2008 Best Acne Treatments

By Dan Adlam

2008 brings many new advances to the treatment of acne. These advances are noted in acne treatment devices as well as acne creams. In this brief article, you'll learn about what methods are being used to treat acne today.

Acne Devices

Acne devices, such as Zeno and blue light therapy have been gaining popularity among acne sufferers. These devices provide uninhabitable environments for the acne-causing bacteria, killing these bacteria, which in turn destroys the acne. A pimple without bacteria is merely a clogged pore, which can be treated easily with a decent acne cream. These acne devices work best for mild to moderate acne, but the treatment of severe acne is questionable. Since severe acne is rooted deep into the skin, Zeno has been shown to be ineffective towards these types of pimples. Further research must be done to treat these nasty pimples. However, Zeno catches acne before they are formed, and it also helps treat acne in less than twenty-four hours. Blue light therapy has also helped treat acne by killing off the skin bacteria. The difference between zeno and blue light therapy is, zeno is a spot treatment while blue light therapy is a full-face treatment.

Acne Creams

Acne creams have been steadily improving over time. Since the 1960s, benzoyl peroxide has been the dominant chemical for treating acne. However, this chemical makes the skin appear "bleached," it stains clothes, and it only temporarily treats acne. Proactiv, Acne Free, and many other old acne treatments like to use this product to treat acne. Although benzoyl peroxide still works to treat acne, 2008 brings many new advances. Today, most acne sufferers are leaning towards using natural acne treatments, those that don't contain harsh chemicals that destroy the skin.

By Steve Morin

What Is The Difference Between Acne Vulgaris and Acne Rosacea

Although it may appear as if all acne is the same, you could not be more wrong. There are actually several different forms, and basically two main types of acne. The first main type being Acne Vulgaris and the second main type being Acne Rosacea. These two main forms of acne have extremely damaging effects on your skin, but to fully comprehend this, you need to understand what is the difference between Acne Vulgaris and Acne Rosacea.

The most common acne that most people suffer from at some point in time during their teenage and sometimes adult years is Acne Vulgaris. This consists of those annoying pimples with black or white heads. A shocking 85% of people suffer from this form of acne on into the adult stage of life. Looking once again at our question of what is the difference between Acne Vulgaris and Acne Rosacea, we now take a glance at what exactly Acne Rosacea is.

Acne Rosacea is somewhat more intense in that it affects an entire section of a persons body, whether it be on their face, back, arms, etc. The appearance of large red spots is a direct result of the bloody supplying capillaries to the face or otherwise, are continually dilated, allowing for an excess amount of blood flowing into the affected area. While not being necessarily uncomfortable physically, Acne Rosacea can be extremely painful in the sense of affecting a teens self-esteem as well as an adult's.

When queried, "What is the difference between Acne Vulgaris and Acne Rosacea?" Most dermatologists have pointed out the fact that most usually Acne Vulgaris is the most common of the two skin disorders, and usually affects teens more than any other age group to date. Acne Rosacea is the more extreme type and can be found in any age group but most often does not appear before the age of 30. Being more prone to affecting women than men, both types of acne are not something to be ignored.

If you are searching for what is the difference between Acne Vulgaris and Acne Rosacea, your dermatologist is, of course, your best source for unbiased information. Using Birth Control Pills For Acne Control

By Cindy English

The use of birth control pills to control acne flare ups may or may not be an effective.

Usually, the first signs of acne develop during adolescence, when hormone levels begin to rise. When hormone levels surge, the sebaceous glands located at the base of each hair follicle, produce excess oil. This oil combined with dead skin cells and dirt becomes trapped within the skin's pores and acne develops.

Since acne can be triggered by fluctuating hormone levels within the body, it stands to reason that acne can appear at the various 'stages' in life when hormone levels are changing such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause. It also makes sense that controlling hormone levels may help to reduce acne outbreaks.

The use of birth control pills for the treatment of acne is an attempt to regulate hormones. It is important to understand that every human body contains both male and female hormones. Overactive sebaceous glands are the result of rising levels of the male hormones - testosterone and androgens. Birth control pills contain artificial female hormones - estrogen and/or progestin. The theory is that birth control pills shut down the ovaries which are producing inappropriate male hormones allowing a more balanced male/female hormone mixture.

There are problems with using birth control pills to control acne. Some women may actually notice their acne worsen with the use of birth control pills until the estrogen levels become dominant.

Women who do take the birth control pill and who notice that their acne is getting worse should discuss the situation with their doctor. Different brands of oral contraception have different levels of hormones. Switching to another brand may bring acne back under control. There are several brands that may help clear up acne but only Ortho Tri-cyclen has been approved by the FDA for treating acne.

Keep in mind that using birth control pills for acne control is only a temporary solution. Many women find that once they stop using birth control pills, their acne returns - often worse than before.

Birth control pills can have undesirable side effects including nausea, weight gain, water retention and mood swings. There are also other more serious health risks than acne to consider. Prolonged use may increase your chances of heart attack or stroke.

It is for these reasons that using birth control pills for acne control should be considered only after all other treatment options have failed and always with the guidance of your physician.

Proactive Solution And Benzoil Peroxide

By Betty Amerson

Benzoil peroxide is the strongest topical acne fighting medicine that is available on today’s market, but it has one side effect because it is a harsh chemical. It tends to dry the skin out and alter the ph level of the skin also and both of these factors are undesirable for a person whose skin is already negatively impacted by an acne infection.

Benzoil peroxide can also cause an irritating red rash on the skin which is the last thing that an acne sufferer needs after enduring the torment of acne infection. Proactive Solution is different from all other acne medical treatments of the past, in that it uses the benzoil peroxide but it also treats the skin to counter the harmful side effects of this powerful acne fighting chemical.

Its a three step treatment and the first step is Proactive renewing cleanser with benzoil peroxide that cleans and strips the skin of pore clogging dead cells while at the same time forcing the acne fighting medicine deep into the skins pores where the acne problem starts.

The second treatment is Proactive revitalizing skin toner that is an alcohol free ph balanced skin moisturizer that counters the harmful effects of the benzoil peroxide, leaving the skin moist and elastic and able to help itself fight off acne causing bacteria before they make their way into the pores.

The third phase of the treatment is Proactive repairing lotion that is a specially formulated lotion that contains benzoil peroxide and won’t clog your skins pores like other lotions can do. It beautifies and coats your skin with a thin invisible layer of anti bacterial medicine that acts as a barrier to kill bacteria before they can make their way into the skins pores.

While other acne fighting treatments just attack the bacteria, Proactive solution attacks the bacteria both on and under the skins surface and also treats and beautifies the skin, while countering the harsh after effects of the acne medicine.

Acne Control: Natural Ways to Overcome Acne

By Kismet Johnson

Acne control is a struggle for many teens. This disorder comes about when the sebaceous glands, or oil glands, become overactive and produce excess oil. As a result, the pores in the skin become clogged. Acne control can be most difficult when dealing with the face, shoulders, chest, and back because these areas contain most of the oil glands.

There are many forms of acne control. Many are in the form of acne medications. Fortunately, there are several less expensive forms of acne control as well.

First, individuals needing acne control should eat healthier. Fruits and vegetables are a necessary part of a balanced diet and assist the body in acne control. Along with eating healthy foods, people also should drink lots of water to promote acne control. Doing so flushes the system and keeps the skin hydrated.

Next, taking multivitamins can assist in acne control. Multivitamins contain zinc which aids the body in acne control as well. Next, minimizing the use of makeup is another form of acne control. Wearing too much makeup can clog the pores, so limiting the use makeup can prevent outbreaks.

Another form of acne control is to use rose water to cleanse the face. People also can use a cucumber mask in order to rid the pores of excess oil. Instead of spending money on acne products these natural remedies can be just as effective for acne control.

All of these tips can be effective forms of acne control. Although they do work for some, they may not work for everyone. Before you spend hundreds of dollars on acne medications, take a trip to your local grocery store- the natural remedies you find can be your answer for acne control.

Acne Cosmetica - How To Prevent It?

By CD Mohatta

What Is Acne Cosmetica?

Acne cosmetica is the name given to the acne that is caused by cosmetics. The common acne is known as acne vulgaris. In case of acne vulgaris, acne develops on the hair follicles that have sebaceous glands attached to them. The sebaceous glands produce an oil called sebum. Because of certain reasons, the sebum changes in quality and quantity giving rise to scales on the hair follicle. These scales block the skin pore causing acne. This blockage is the beginning of acne. As the sebum gets infected the acne turns to cysts and nodules. Acne cosmetica is different than this cane vulgaris.

The cosmetics are made with many ingredients. Some of them are synthetic chemicals and others are natural products. Some of these products may be comedogenic. A comedogenic product causes comedones when applied on the skin. When any cosmetic that contains s a comedogenic ingredient is used it causes acne cosmetica.

How to diagnose acne cosmetica?

You will develop this acne after you begin using a new cosmetic. This acne will slowly develop in skin colored small bumps. These bumps form in a cluster and are commonly located on the chin and forehead. They look very ugly. Unlike acne vulgaris, this acne generally does not grow in to nodules and cysts. And when you stop using that cosmetic acne slowly disappears.

Treatment of acne cosmetica

The first step is to stop using the particular cosmetic. Any product that contains AHA or retinoids can be used on this acne. That product will slowly peel the skin away and the acne will disappear in some time.

By Sam G Jackson

Silica gel is a great way to help combat mild to moderate acne and its positive benefits have been recorded in a number of scientific studies. In this article I am going to explain what silica gel is, why it is so effective and how to properly apply it.

What is silica gel?

Silica gel is a natural way to combat mild to moderate acne and is even effective on those who suffer from sensitive skin. Silica gel contains particles of silica which is a natural compound found in foods such as oats and barley, as well as things such as mud from thermal springs.

How does silica gel help combat acne?

The particles in silica gel are effective at absorbing impurities such as excess oil/sebum and bacteria. It also has a cooling effect which acts to calm the skin and reduce inflammation. Silica gel has been found to help rid the skin of pustules/whiteheads, clogged pores and blackheads.

How do you apply silica gel to the skin?

Lightly rub a small quantity of silica gel on the face to create a mask. Wait for around 10 minutes so the silica gel dries. Once this happens, gently wash of with warm water and a soft facecloth. When you first start using silica gel you should only apply it to a small portion of the face first to test if you may react negatively to it.

Silica gel can be purchased from most natural health food shops and is easily one of the most effective natural acne treatments available today.

Acne Vulgaris - The Cause

By Noel Clarke

The most common form of acne is referred to as "Acne Vulgaris". Alterations to your skin especially your hair follicles and the associated sebaceous glands cause inflammation of the skin . Pimples, zits, spots and acne are familiar names that identify Acne Vulgaris.

Acne Vulgaris is caused by the barring of your skin pores by dead cells, leading to the out break of acne. This results in the build up of oils created by the sebaceous glands (based under your skin); which is a perfect environment for skin bacteria to multiply. As the oil collects under your skin it becomes inflamed and creates a visible pimple on your skin. The face, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms are generally the most affected.

Acne produces visible scars, but it's the emotional ones which can do the most damage, such as depression and low self-esteem, which has even led to suicide . Acne usually strikes during adolescence, and is more prominent in the western society.

Normally, as you age you will find that your acne lessens or disappears completely by the time you hit your twenties. But, unfortunately there is no strict time frame for acne vulgaris to vanish altogether, and some people suffer from acne well into their thirties and forties and sometimes even longer. Acne affects a large percentage of the human population at some point during their lives.

The question as to why people get acne has no real answer. It is not clear why some people get acne and others do not. It is partly due to genes, if your parents suffered from Acne Vulgaris, then the chances are you will to.

Diet, Stress, Active Hormones - such as menstrual cycles, puberty and menopause, are known to influence the onset of acne. Other factors include the build up of dead skin cells and the use of anabolic steroids.

As people age, they may suffer from Rosacea which has a similar appearance to acne vulgaris. Acne Vulgaris is a skin disorder which impacts most people at some point in their lives.

Some people are affected more severely than others, but in all cases It is necessary to treat acne symptoms early to deflect unnecessary pain and grief.
