Fast food, french fries, cakes, cookies, pastries, desserts, candies, pancakes, french toast, white bread, crackers...All of these foods contain processed, simple Carbohydrates. Processed Carbohydrates mean the food is processed - high heated, chemically changed, has additives like trans fats or preservatives, or has been through some other process that destroys the good nutrition (such as removing the bran and bleaching white flour).
Simple Carbohydrates mean the Carbohydrates are smaller and are burned up by the body much faster. Eating a lot of simple Carbohydrates can spike your blood sugar, increasing your insulin levels to help lower your blood sugar back to normal. This causes wear and tear on your body and can eventually lead to insulin resistance or even Type II diabetes. Blood sugar and insulin spikes can also mess with your hormones, and therefore may increase your chances of Acne breakouts.
If you have Acne problems, you want to avoid all of these processed, refined and simple Carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are good for you - but you must eat the right kind.
Complex Carbohydrates
Complex Carbohydrates include fiber and starches. Fiber helps your body cleanse itself, getting rid of toxins which can contribute to Acne. And starches are metabolized much slower than simple Carbohydrates, giving you more sustainable energy and easing the load on your insulin receptors and hormones.
The best sources of Complex Carbohydrates are plants - fruits, vegetables, berries, whole grains, legumes (beans), nuts and seeds. A great Acne fighting Diet could include a large salad for lunch with field greens, your choice of added veggies, some kind of beans (chick peas, black beans, kidney beans) and a healthy natural salad dressing. In just that one large salad, you could easily get enough fiber, antioxidants, and healthy starches to fuel your body, help eliminate toxins, fight inflammation and help your skin heal its Acne.
So remember Acne Diet Rule 5 - eat only Complex, unprocessed Carbohydrates. You can eat all the veggies, fruits, berries, nuts, beans, legumes, and seeds you want. Just cut out all the soda, cakes, cookies, candies, white flour, etc. These processed foods simply cause toxin build-up in the body and spike your blood sugar.
Eliminating these simple processed Carbohydrates and replacing them with healthy Complex, unprocessed Carbohydrates will make a huge difference in your Acne - and your overall health. You will love how you look with clear skin, and trust me - your body will thank you for it.
